This diet is very restrictive and difficult to maintain long term, which is why this diet is only useful for a very select population. It is widely used to treat certain seizure disorders. Aside from that, one does not NEED to use the Keto diet to achieve weight loss and improvements in blood sugars. There are many pros and cons to using this diet regimen and it can be very helpful for the right individual, although I don’t typically recommend severe food restrictions with most of my clients.
